Registration

If your design is an aesthetic design, it will be entered in what is called Part A of the Designs Register. Renewal fees must be paid to maintain the registered status. However, the lifetime of an aesthetic design’s registration is fifteen years, calculated from the date of lodgement.

A functional design is registered in Part F. Note, however, that even if the renewal fees are paid regularly, the maximum lifetime of a functional design registration is only ten years.
