A concluding comment about the exclusive rights

When we talk about infringement (which is covered in the section on Infringement) what is meant is that someone exercises one (or more) of these rights without the permission of the owner of the copyright. An exclusive right is also infringed where you cause someone else to do the act in question.

However, a specific range of activities is exempted from being an infringement. In short: even though a particular act is reserved exclusively for the copyright owner, and you have performed the act without the owner’s permission, it is, nevertheless, not unlawful. We will look at these exceptions later. Now, let’s get to the question which comes up time and again: who owns the copyright?
